I am Ashabul Anhar, and I am honored to share my academic and professional journey with you. In 1989, I proudly completed my S-1 (Bachelor) degree at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh, specializing in Agronomy.
Driven by a profound curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, I pursued further studies and obtained my master’s degree in Agronomy from the prestigious Agronomy Department at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, USA, in 1995. My research focus revolved around Crop Production and Physiology, with my thesis delving into the intricate dynamics of ‘Relay Intercropping Soybean into Wheat’.
Continuing my academic pursuits, I embarked on a doctoral journey that led me to the Center for Development Research (Zentrum fuer Entwicklung Forschung – ZEF) at the Ecology and Natural Resource Management Department, Friedrich Wilhelm Universitaet, Bonn, Germany. In 2005, I successfully defended my dissertation titled ‘The Role of Biological Nitrogen Fixation in Cacao Agroforestry Systems in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia’, contributing to the understanding of sustainable agricultural practices.
My journey in academia has been complemented by leadership roles, where I have had the privilege of serving as the Head of the Agrotechnology Studies Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Syiah Kuala, from February 2012 to January 2016. Since February 2016, I have had the honor of leading as the head of the Forestry Study Program, where I am committed to fostering excellence and innovation in forestry education.
With a steadfast dedication to advancing agricultural research and promoting sustainable practices, I remain deeply passionate about nurturing the next generation of scholars and practitioners in the field
